Bedside Reads

So having no idea on what to post first, I tend to run Twitter polls to help me and apparently this was what was most popular. I always seem to have a stack of books on my bedside table to read and I am trying to get through them this year! So here goes nothing...

This is a book that was recommended by my pastor’s wife on Instagram, Lysa share her own experiences with rejection and her life and doubt within her faith. If nothing else this book shed’s like on the notion of embracing God’s ways to outweigh the negativity and hurt in their lives. The aim of this book for me is clear, overcome two core fears that affect our sense of belonging and constantly feeling of rejection. As I am in a negative and often warped mind frame I rely on my faith to be my anchor and drag me out so any books like this are exactly what I reach for.

This a very recent purchase as recommended by the amazing Harry, again it is connected to faith and tries to connect faith with joy in your life. It is about realizing what exactly is blocking you from the joy and love you deserve in your life. Hence the universe having your back, I have yet to read this as you can see I have a stack to read. If you want any updates on any of these books just let me know.

Steven Furtick is the pastor I adore, I watch all his sermons online and buy his books etc, this book is one I have wanted to read ever since I read Unqualified. This book focuses on something I struggle with – negative thoughts- and tried to tackle it to where you can silence the noise and embrace freedom and truth from God. I would of course recommend Unqualified as well as it is something that helped me to confront my negative thoughts.

Another recent purchase I had to get after it came into work, I had seen a few bloggers receive it and was intrigued. Anything that’s to do with mindfulness is up my street. As a fellow sufferer of depression, I was intrigued to see what exactly mindfulness-based cognitive therapy did for her, I am always looking for a way not be chained down by my thoughts and fears and this seems perfect.

I literally cannot talk anymore about this book, it is a book a recommend to everyone no matter what, one of the reasons I am still here now. I will leave the link to the blog post I did on my old blog explaining the life changing consequences of this book. It has only just celebrated the year anniversary since it was published and I know the good it has done for the MH community.

I knew of this book whilst at work as it was popular however I never considered it be something I should read myself. The lovely Harry recommended this for me as well, and it is the current book I am reading, it is about taking in the moment at hand and trying to embark on a journey of happiness.

As you can probably tell from my book choices right now I am into self-help but I also recommend Pretty Honest, #GirlBoss, Face, Unqualified and Marie Kondo. I hope that was somewhat entertaining for you awesome readers.

Thanks all for now my lovely readers,

Leah.
